Sylvanian Undead by Andy Welton

Originally presented at Blood Bowl Central

From the gates of Drakenhof castle come the restless undead. These cursed lands known as Sylvania, has spawned many types of monsters, the best known being the Vampire. These treacherous lands are home for many more, Zombies, humans, and Ghouls.

While pure Vampire teams are known for their savagery on the field and in the stands, the Sylvanian teams are not well known at all. Sometimes these Vampires Veterans settle down and start up their own Blood Bowl teams. Gathering as much local 'talent' as they can is a hard thing to do in Sylvania. With all the disease and dreadful atmosphere, most 'good' Blood Bowl Players have usually moved to the Empire to play in one of its teams. Most are forced to enslave humans, raise zombies, and accept ghouls as allies. They form what is known as the Sylvanian team. One of the most popular teams to come out of the lands of Sylvania, are the Drakenhof Disciples, who are best known for their victory over the Vicious Voracious Vampires. While they were not the most adept of all teams, they gobbled up V.V.V., literally. The canabalistic Ghouls and Vampires were to much for the pure Vampire team. No team since then has matched the destuctive capability of the Drakenhof Disciples, until now.

CANNIBALISM:This is a special rule for the Sylvanian Undead team. Ghouls on the normal Undead team did not have to worry about living creatures, but on the Sylvanian team there are human slaves. If the Humans on the team out-number the Ghouls, the ghouls will not try anything, the human numbers keep them in check. But if the Ghouls out-number the humans, the craving starts. The Ghouls then loose control and sometimes eats one or more of the human slaves. This is represented at the end of the game during the 'Work out new team rating' step. For every 1 ghoul over the total of the human slaves roll a d6. (ie, there are 5 ghouls and only 2 human slaves, roll 3D6). If any of these dice results in a 1 then the ghouls eat one random human slave. Remove that player from the team list. If there are no human slaves on the team ignore the cannibalism roll.

SKILL PICKS: All the skill picks are the same as normal undead.

VAMPIRE COUNT: The Vampire count is a direct descendent of the Vampire Lord, and therefore does not have the Off for a Bite skill

REGENERATION: The vampire regeneration is 2+, this is a innate physical ability not a necromatic spell.

HEAD COACH: The head coach is a retired Vampire Lord. The Vampire Lord does not have the same powers as a normal necromancer. He cannot raise dead bodies and create a Zombie. But since the Vampire more familiar with undead than the necromancer, he is undead, he can cast regeneration at a better rate. If you are using the white dwarf suggested rule 4+ regeneration on league play, the Vampire Lord may regenerate the team on a 3+.

APOTHECARY: Yes, but can only be used on the Slaves.

TEAM WIZARD: While a normal undead team employs the necromancer as its team's wizard, the Vampire Lord is its team wizard. The Vampire Lord may purchase a Spell Scroll to upgrade for 150,000 gp's. This Spell scroll is the Hand of Dust.

HAND OF DUST: The Hand of Dust may be used only on the Sylvanian team turn. If there is a opposing player on the sideline of the Sylvanian Dugout the coach may use the Hand of Dust. (see chart below) This involves the Vampire Lord reaching out and grabbing the player. It is a instant armor roll at +3 and injury roll at +3. Also if a player is thrown out of bounds on the side of the Sylvanian Dugout ignore the crowd injury, the Vampire Lord may use the Hand Of Dust. This may be used only once per game.
