Golem

Note: Original team concept credited to Craig Houston.

I made some changes to Craig's Original Golem team rules. I changed the cost for all of the Golem team members. I also added the rules for the Master Artificer, the Golem stadium, and the star players Hammerhands, Morpho, Sticks 'N Stones, and Scraps. Last change: Craig's original rules for the Golem Physical skill included the abilities Foul Appearance, Prehensile Tail, and Tentacles. I removed these abilities as I just didn't feel that clay could made to act like these skills (even in a fantasy realm.)

Team Description:
Victor "Tinker" Stein was a star surgeon/cyborg parts creator for the Body Shop. But he became tired of enhancing the current Blood Bowl star players to fame and fortune without receiving any glory himself. Victor was too scrawny to even think about playing Blood Bowl himself, but it dawned on him one night that rather than enhancing living players will not make an entire team of artificial players. After several long nights, graveyard and quarry visits, and close calls with town citizens with torches, Victor managed to create a team of thinking, learning artificial Blood Bowl players that required minimal instruction to operate a full capacity. Victor's howl of delight was heard throughout the valley as his new Golem team stumbled out of his workshop to load up in the wagon for their first away game.

Players:

0-4 Clay Golem 90,000 7 3 3 7 Golem Physical Regeneration General, Agility

0-2 Iron Golem 110,000 5 4 2 10 Break Tackle, Thick Skull Rusting General, Strength

Rerolls:
70,000

Big Guys:
Golem teams may not have any Big Guy players.

New skills:
Golem Physical: When a Clay Golem is purchased, the coach chooses a physical skill from the list below. If the team has a Master Artificer, the Golem coach may have the Clay Golem reformed to have a different skill from the list below before any game at a cost of 10,000. This skill will replace the previously selected Golem Physical skill. Golem Physical skills can be Big Hand, Extra Arms, Two Heads, and Very Long Legs. (Special note: a Clay Golem with Very Long Legs will have a movement increase of 1 (MA: 8), if the Very Long Legs skill is lost the movement will revert to its original move allowance (MA: 7))

Brittle: If this player is seriously injured, add +10 to the serious injury roll.

Rusting: This player may not take the field if it is Weather Condition: Pouring Rain. If the weather changes to Pouring Rain during a drive, this player is immediately removed from the field. This will result in a turnover if this player was carrying the ball (which will scatter one square).

Allies:
The Golem team will not allow any allied players from other teams on their team.
The Golems will not ally with any other team.

Apothecary/Wizard/Coach:
A Golem team may not have a standard Apothecary. The team may have a standard Head Coach OR for 150,000 the Golem team may hire a Master Artificer which will act as Head Coach.
A Master Artificer can perform EACH of the following four skills ONCE during or at the end of a game (if he is ejected for Arguing the Call, he will not be able to perform any of these abilities even during the end game sequence):

On Pitch Spellcaster:
The starting spell for a Golem Spellcaster is Spontaneous Construction.
Successful Result: A tiny Golem is formed from the bits of players lying around the pitch. This Golem may be summoned into any empty square on the pitch. The type summoned depends on what player "parts" are must abundant on the pitch. If the Golem team has caused more casualties then their opponent, then a Mannequin is summoned (6/1/3/5 Dodge,Stunty,Side Step,Sure Hands). If the Golem team has suffered more casualties or if the opponent is a Golem or Robot team, then a Dreadmini is summoned (3/4/1/5 Claw,Stunty). If the casualty count is tied, roll a D6 (1-3=Mannequin, 4-6=Dreadmini). This created Golem may take the number of players on the Golem team over 11 without penalty. The created Golem may move the turn it was created. If the created Golem attempts to block on the turn it was created, it must use the team's blitz action. The created Golem will last until the end of drive or until it is Knocked Down at which point it is dispelled (no SPPs earned for dispelling it).
Failure Result: Nothing happens.
Range: Any unoccupied square on the pitch
Succeeds on: 3+

Secret Weapons:
The Golem teams will not use secret weapons.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This ends the MBBL2 league rules for this team -------------------------------------------------------

Stadium rules:
The Golem stadium has massive amounts of spare parts lying around and lots of journeymen Artificers learning the skills of the trade (thus making the dugout look like a Dwarf Gyrocopter assemblyline) . Before each kickoff, roll a D6 for each Knocked Out, Badly Hurt, Seriously Injured, and Dead Golem. On a 6, improve the Golem's condition by one degree (ie. place Knocked Out players in the Reserve Box, Badly Hurt becomes Knocked Out, Seriously Injured becomes Badly Hurt, and Dead becomes Seriously Injured. These rolls may NOT be made if the Golem team has not purchased the Master Artificer or has had the Master Artificer removed from the game (as the journeymen need his direction to perform the work.))

Star Players: (the MBBL does not use Star Players)

Suggested miniatures:
Ral Partha created two blisters that had virtually all the Golems you will need to create the team. Ral Partha packaged one Flesh and one Clay per a blister and one Stone and one Iron in another blister. Conversion for the Clay Golems is time consuming but cutting up one Clay Golem fig will give you the extra materials to modify 3 other Clay Golems to have the Two Heads, Extra Arms, and Very Long Legs skills. I created Morpho by cutting up two Clay Golems and then gluing them together into one player. Big hands are easily available from Tzeentch Pink Horrors (the model number provided below both hands up in the air for easy removal).
Scraps was a major conversion project. I started with a Ral Partha Marid (Genie) and filed down his boot tips. I then sawed off his left arm above the elbow and replaced it with the tentacles from a Blood Bowl Chaos Mutant. I added the Claw Hand from a Blood Bowl Chaos Mutant to his right side. To his left side, I added a left arm from Headsplitter with the hand replaced with a Pink Horror's Big Hand (you can use Headsplitter's leftover left hand to create a Border Prince team Wizard). For the head, use Headsplitter's head and glue on the removed horns from a Games Workshop Minotaur Lord (use the hornless Minotaur Lord as star player Goremore Brokenhorn for the Minotaur team). On the back of Headsplitter's head, I glued on the head from the Blood Bowl Chaos Mutant with Claw and Foul Appearance (hey I already cut off his arm). Finally, I removed the tail from a Skaven Rat Ogre and glued it on in the appropriate spot (the tailless Rat Ogre can be used as star player Stumpy for the Skaven team.) If you try to create Scraps, be patient and use very sharp razor saws and exacto blades.

For my Master Artificer, I used a Grenadier's Nightmares Mad Scientist. However, Grenadier figs are EXTREMELY hard to find these days, so if any one has a better suggestion for a fig currently in production, please let me know.
