Vampire

Note from Tom: I played a Vampire team in my last league and can honestly say that it's a true challenge to play. There will be games where only 1 of your vampires will show up and you'll be scratching your head wondering what do I do now. The big plus to this team is the fact the Vampire Lord is by far the most powerful single player in all of Blood Bowl because of the 5 strength with a 4 agility and the ability to get General, Strength, and Agility skills. Our league season was 15 games (including finals) and my Vampire Lord ended up league MVP out of the 20 teams with a season total of 6 completions, 29 touchdowns, 1 interception, and 1 casualty. My team finished 5th for the season with 9 win/6 loss record.
Credits for the Vampire team go out to:
Jervis Johnson for the team from the Compendium I, the Off for a Bite rule, and Count Luthor Von Drakenborg
Ricardo Nagliati for the Vampire Cheerleader rules
Tom Anders for the Vampire stadium rules, the Vampire War Mage, and Star Players Baron Sengiro, Duke Darklight, Lord Lestat, and Vlad Knifeheart.
Note: all material from the Blood Bowl Compendium 1 and 3 are copyrighted by Games Workshop Ltd. in 1997 (the vampire team is on pages 38 to 40) and 2000 (the Vampire cheerleader rules are on page 17) respectively.

Big Guys:
#PositionCostMASTAG AVSkills Traits Skills Available
1 Vampire Lord 180,000 6 5 4 9 Block, Dodge, Hypnotic Gaze Regeneration, Unique General, Strength, Agility

New traits:
Off for a Bite: Roll a D6 for each player with this skill each time you want to set them up on the pitch. On a roll of 4-6 they can be set up normally, but on a roll of 1-3 they've popped into the crowd to bite the lily-white neck of an attractive maiden - and who can blame them! - and cannot be used for this drive. Off for a Bite can NEVER be removed from a player.

Special Notes:
All of the players on a Vampire team are the Vampire Lord's creation: Vampires or Human thralls. The vampires were once living creatures, which were almost - but not quite - slain by the Vampire Lord and then brought back to life as lesser Vampires under his command. Vampire teams generally also include a number of human thralls, weak-willed mortal creatures that are willing to serve the Vampire Lord in return for the promise of immortality at some time in the future.
Vampire Lords are player coaches, and actually take part in the game rather than simply yelling at the players (and referee) from the sidelines. Although the Vampire Lord represents you, they must still be bought for the team, as shown on the team list below. The team will keep on functioning normally even if the Vampire Lord is killed, it being assumed that the next in line of the Vampires in the team (i.e. the one with the most SPPs) will evevate to the statue of Vampire Lord and take over. The Vampire that takes over the team immediately loses the 'Off for a Bite' negative skill as soon as the old Vampire Lord dies (but is NOT considered a Big Guy), and its entry on the roster should be changed straight away to show that it is the new Vampire Lord of the team. The new Vampire Lord does NOT gain the extra point of strength and armour and the Block and Dodge skills that the first Vampire Lord had, the new Vampire Lord is just a much weaker Lord. Note: that since you can only have one Vampire Lord per a Vampire team, the only time you can ever purchase a Vampire Lord for a team is when it is first created! If for some reason there isn't a Vampire to take over the team when the Vampire Lord dies, then the team will disband after the match.
If the Vampire team argues with the referee and the coach is ejected, the Vampire team loses the Vampire Lord for the rest of the game (immediately remove him from the pitch.)

Rerolls:
50,000

Big Guys: The Vampire - Lesser Counts team may have one Big Guy player. Big Guy players may not use team rerolls.

Allies:
Click here to see the standard ally rules for this league.

Apothecary:
No Vampire team may have an Apothecary.

Head Coach:
The Vampire Lord is the Head Coach. Except for the Lesser Counts team, he is a special off-pitch coach - see each team for the coach's special rules (if they have any).

On Pitch Spellcaster: The Vampire team Spellcaster's staring spell for all teams is Mist Form. (Note: only Vampires or Human Thralls can be spellcasters)
Successful Result: Target player (from either team) becomes mist for the rest of this turn. The player loses his tackle zone, may not lend assists, cannot throw blocks or blitzes, and may not pick-up, catch, or carry the ball. If the player was carrying the ball, it will drop and scatter one square (which will result in a turnover if you cast it on your ball carrier). The player may ignore tackle zones and may even pass through occupied squares. Other players may pass through the square that he is standing in as well. When the player rematerializes at the end of the turn, if another player is standing in the same square both players are knocked over (make AV and Injury rolls). The player that was not gaseous is placed in an unoccupied square (use scatter template to determine). Casting this spell on an opponent is more difficult.
Failure Result: No effect
Range: Maximum of seven squares
Succeeds on: 3+ / (4+ for opponents)

Secret Weapons:
Vampire teams and their allies may not use secret weapons.

---------------------------------------------------- This ends the MBBL2 League Rules for this team ----------------------------------------------

Racial Wizard: (Racial Wizards are not used by the MBBL.)
Vampire teams can have a Vampire War Mage for 150,000. War Mages can cast one of two spells during a game interrupting an oppenent's turn if needed.
Enrage: One Vampire player gains Block, Dodge, Stand Firm, Sprint, and Frenzy until the end of the drive. At the end of the drive, the opposing coach makes an injury roll with a +1 modifier for that Vampire.
Smite: Pick one of your players on the pitch (this player may not be an Import from Adam Morgan's Bottom of the Barrel rules.) The opposing coach rolls a D6 for the selected player from your team. On a 1=the player is Badly Hurt, 2=Seriously Injuried, 3 or more=the player is Dead! Then you may roll for injuries with a -2 modifier (no armour roll, modified injury rolls of 0 or 1 have no effect, the -2 modifier applies only to the injury roll not the specific injury roll) for a random D6 plus 2 players on the pitch from the opposing team.

Stadium rules:
Lesser Counts
No team 'interacts' with their fans like the Vampires as every time a Vampire fails an 'Off for a Bite' roll, he runs into the stands to feed off them. If a Vampire fails his 'Off for a Bite' roll during a home stadium game, roll a D6 again. On a 1-4, the player runs into the section where the home team fans have brought quarts of blood for ready chugging to slack that thirst. The Vampire may re-roll his 'Off for a Bite' roll, but a second failure means that he has stayed in the home team fan section to gorge himself and will miss the drive as normal. On a 5-6, the Vampire has mistakeningly run into the section with the visiting team fans who greet him with garlic and wooden stakes. The visiting coach rolls 2D6 and compares to the following:
2-8: the Vampire is successful in feeding on the visiting fans
9-11: the Vampire is knocked out
12: the Vampire is badly injured
